Surface designer Lucy Claw graduated in 2004 with a degree in Textiles and Surface Design. Throughout her career as a freelance designer and in house artist, Lucy has developed her own signature technique, which she now uses to produce striking embellished bespoke works of art that sell worldwide.

 

Lucy takes inspiration from her urban surroundings and each of her designs starts life as sketches of her environment. Each bespoke piece is hand-drawn onto a stretched canvas and then hand-painted using a technique she created.

 

They are then painstakingly gilded with either gold, rose gold or silver leaf.

This is a lengthy process with simply stunning results. Different lighting throughout the day can make the pieces take on a whole new life, as the light catches the metallic surfaces.

Lucy's most recent work has seen the addition of coloured backgrounds, where she hand paints the stretched canvas before applying the embellishments. This enhances the embellished design and the circle still remains a bold feature.

 

Clients are then able to choose exactly what colour background they require to fit into any interior setting. The possibilities are endless. The circles look fantastic on a grand scale but work equally well as smaller scale sets.

Lucy also creates mixed media abstract textured artworks on canvas. Like her circle designs the emphasis is on texture. Clients are able to choose any colour palette including Gold, Silver, and Copper to compliment their interior design.
